OUR HISTORY

Cumberland Bird Observers Club (CBOC) started in 1979 and has recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.  The term "Cumberland" refers to the Cumberland Plain on which most of Sydney is located.

It began with a group of 30-40 keen birdwatchers, initially for the benefit of birders of the western fringe of Sydney.  Monthly meetings and outings began and membership grew rapidly across north-western Sydney and has expanded over time to cover most areas of Sydney.
